My name is Elizabeth Carlie Pollak Martinez, I'm 17 years old. I will be living in Italy for a year, with a family that I have been assigned to going to school over there and pretty much being thrown into the culture. While I am there I will be learning their ways, and of course the beautiful language.. ITALIAN :) I have been blessed with this amazing opportunity to study in Italy and leave a legacy in another country. Many of you actually ask me am I scared? How are you doing that? And what about your boyfriend? Those are probably the three most asked questions that I get when people hear about what I am doing. In general you have to have some what of courage and ambition to do what I am doing. I don't get to come back when I want and then just go back, it's a full term of living in Italy with hopefully "your" family. Many people don't realize what this all means in the beginning because I can assure you I didn't even think about most of the HARD TIMES I am going to experience. For example, culture shock, being homesick OFTEN, and depression. Being taken away from something you know so well and being thrown into something you don't is testing your ability to adapt and with that skill you will go far in life. I'm going to be an emotional roller coaster through out this year long blog but check it out! For those of you who are closer to me than others.. it will be your way of staying close!
